Hang in there!

I spent most of the day with the debaters, so admittedly, I have not finished the reading for tomorrow.  I still want to discuss the reading about Lincoln's election and the South's secession, but I do not have questions on them yet.  In the meantime, please let your comments/thoughts on today's debate below.

  1. I felt that both Elizabeth and zack did a great job defending their political party. Even after the time was up, they still wanted to explain what they had to say. It was a lot like the actual debates. They knew everything that was asked of them which shows really how dedicated they are to this election.

  2. I thought the debate was interesting! It was cool to see kids not too much older than us talking about the political issues that we having been discussing for the past few weeks. It was amazing how much they knew about politics and how well they could just teach us about political things...I learned alot from just that one hour! I thought both debators had their pros and cons. Elizabeth was really great at the beginning, but kind of blew it when she was talking about marriage. As for Zach, I really liked his closing statement, t was quite inspirational!!

  3. Well, believe or not, i do not think today's debate went very well. Despite statements of their shining political experience and decent knowledge about politics,i kind of don't think we actually had a real debate at all today. First of all, may be it is owing to their close relationship? or too much audience disrupt their attention?I kind of feel they could not actually sit down and centralize their aggressive characters aiming each other and actually have a "fight".Also, may be it is because i watched previous 3 presidential debate before this? i am kind of sick of people throw abundance amount of statistics which you aren't familiar with and play fingers by saying that you are lying; just make me feel uncomfortable and feel like i am played by those debaters and actually no one speaks the truth any way? Also, i really do think Elizabeth's saying about marriage,, which she said she was not exactly right, is completely wrong!sorry, i just simply think it is absurd.

  4. there are abundance of people who could not make baby themselves have healthy marriage relationship together, also, they could totally adopt a kid. May be it is because i am too young to understand what marriage is?I do admit that children plays huge roles if anyone want to keep their marriage in long term, but my argument is that children is just a part of it,we can't just deny the whole
because of it,if anyone are in love with each other, it is absolutely unfair for them to get recognized by the public and justification which government could make it possible.
If anything are not recognized by the public or justification, the people who are in the affair would feel
guilty and ashamed even they did not do anything wrong,so, at least, they deserve to be recognized legally.

  5. I was very surprised with how well both Elizabeth and Zack represented the political parties. They both seemed to really know what they were talking about. In the beginning, I felt that Elizabeth was on fire and doing a great job. However, when Hannah Cohen-Lawlor asked the question regarding gay/lesbian/transgender marriage...it did not go too well for the republican side haha. Zack was overall pretty consistent in his arguments. There is nothing I remember that really enlightened or angered the audience, besides his inspirational closing remarks. I liked that both the representatives were able to spit out statistics, historical facts, etc. I can't imagine how much time and effort they must put into studying political science.

  6. Elizabeth and Zack were both great debaters and created a great learning experience for everyone that saw it. Unfortunately, I had to leave early to go do a tour but i stayed for the better half and from what i saw i was pleased. Zack made interesting points but I think that Elizabeth was prepared and came out swinging. She presented her ideas with a strong voice and in my opinion over powered Zack at times. As Zack would make some of his points it was clear that he was a bit frustrated by the counter of Elizabeth with his facial expressions. Another thing i noticed was that Elizabeth seemed more confortable on the stage and Zack seemed a tad bit timid which was clear by his posture and his constant moving of his seat.

  7. I was impressed with both the debaters because they seemed to know all the facts and figures of the questions asked of them. At the beginning I thought Zack was quite relaxed and well spoken which I liked, but towards the end I think he sort of ran out of ideas. He kept saying "I'll let Elizabeth answer this one first". It was almost as if he didn't know how to answer the question until Elizabeth answered, so he could just disagree with her. I found Elizabeth to be a bit hesitant at the beginning but she got into it by the end. She got into a bit of a mess when she was talking about marriage equality, but the mumbling from the audience may have been the reason why she was stumbling on what to say. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the debate.

  8. I think that both Elizabeth and Zack did an amazing job. Both of them seemed very well prepared and had all of their facts ready. I really liked Nanci's question because the whole room went 'ohhh' while Elizabeth was answering which was amusing.I think that the moderators did a very nice job of keeping them in check and keeping them from interrupting too much.

  9. Both Elizabeth and Zack were fantastic in today's debate. Both obviously consume themselves with research of the issues, and where they stand on the issues. At the same time, I feel as though Zack was withholding some of his stronger political or condescending comments. Elizabeth has very radical and entrenched stances on the political issues, and had no trouble sharing her strong beliefs regarding marriage, gay rights, etc., even at the disapproval of the crowd. Although I may not agree with some of her positions, I greatly respect her willingness to discuss them and other political issues. The debate made me want to further investigate some political issues that I was curious about.

  11. I dont believe that there was a winner. I dont think the questions were answered completely and sufficiently. Both Zach and Elizabeth avoided big questions. Elizabeth kept contradicting her points and admitting she was wrong, and Zach and times mentioned something, and the moved on without ever truly indulging in the topic.
